Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP):

Originally used in dental work, and widely used in orthopedic medicine to stimulate tissue healing of bone, tendon, ligament and cartilage, PRP initiates the growth and regeneration of tissue wherever it is injected. For this reason, it has also become widely used in cosmetic applications including treatment for hair regeneration, regeneration of collagen and connective tissue in the face, neck and chest and most recently as a treatment for female sexual dysfunction and urinary incontinence by increasing growth and regeneration of tissue in the vaginal and peri-urethral tissue. PRP uses the patient’s own blood plasma, processed to concentrate the platelets and the bioactive growth factors associated with the platelets.
Side effects of PRP injections are minimal, as the treatment involves the reintroduction of the patient’s own blood product into their body rather than a foreign substance such as a medication or filler. Treatments are done in the office with very little down time, and results are seen in 6-12 weeks after the procedure.
Natural Facials and Skin Rejuvenation
By far a patient favorite at Inspire Your Health, microneedling is a well-tolerated procedure that restores skin supplements and fullness, reduces wrinkles, fine lines and pores up to 100%, and decreases scarring and discoloration. The microneedling process involves a microneedling device that glides over the patient’s skin, causing microtrauma as it does.
PRP is used as the liquid base for treatment, which introduces growth factors that, along with the microneedling process itself, work to regenerate collagen and connective tissue. Microneedling can be done to various areas of the body. Patient favorites include:
- Facials: Increase tissue integrity while reducing wrinkles and pores
- Abdomen: soften stretch marks and increase tissue tone
- Hands: Decrease wrinkles and strengthen tissue
As with other PRP procedures, results may be seen after the first treatment; however, optimal results will be noted after a series of treatments (typically 3), performed 4-6 weeks apart.
Hair Restoration
By the time they are 50, over 80% of men report hair loss, and nearly 40% of women have visible hair loss by the time they are 40! There are many possible underlying causes of hair loss including hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, stress and autoimmunity.
Each hair on your head grows from its own follicle, and the follicles require nourishment supplied from a network of capillaries. For many years, treatment for hair loss has been primarily focused on medications that alter hormone production (like finasteride), topical agents that increase blood flow to the follicle (Minoxidil) and hair transplants, a surgical relocation of strips of the scalp from the back of the head where there is generally more hair to the thinning areas.
There are now several supportive studies illustrating that platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections in the scalp regenerate the hair follicles and lead to increased hair growth. Recent studies have shown that PRP injections induced growth phase of the hair follicle and were effective in reversing androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness even in men who had a family history of hair loss. The success of PRP hair restoration therapy is overwhelmingly favorable for all types of hair loss.
The non-surgical procedure involves the collection of the patient’s blood while treating the scalp with a topical numbing agent. Once the PRP has been prepared it is injected into the scalp, bathing the hair follicles in growth factors. Special attention will be paid to the areas of the most hair loss in each individual patient. Recovery is quick, and is generally limited to mild tenderness of the scalp for a day or two.
For optimal results, we suggest 2-3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. As with all PRP procedures, the overall health, nutritional and hormonal status of the patient is a factor in the efficacy of the treatment, and the longer the hair loss has been going on, the more difficult it is to treat.
Vaginal PRP
The Vaginal PRP is a revolutionary procedure that uses PRP to regenerate urethral, vaginal and clitoral tissues and improve urinary retention, tissue integrity, and sexual function.
Beyond counseling and hormone replacement, there are few treatment options for sexual dysfunction available to the female patient, and the pharmaceuticals used for incontinence and overactive bladder have some profound side effects. Enter the Vaginal PRP, a simple in-office procedure that uses the body’s own growth factors and healing force to improve tissues and enhance function.
The process begins with a simple blood draw, and a topical anesthetic is applied to the clitoris, vulva and vaginal wall while the plasma is processed to concentrate the platelets and growth factors. The injection itself takes just a few minutes and we well tolerated with minimal to no pain to the patient. There is no downtime; many patients return to their jobs or regular activities (including sex) on the same day as the procedure.
While a small percentage of patients notice increased sexual sensation within minutes of the injection, the full effect of the procedure can take up to 3 months, as the local tissue regenerates and restores function. Many patients find that a single Vaginal PRP is sufficient, while others have opted for a “tune-up” or second round after 9-12 months.
Botox and Xeomin
For more immediate relief of fine lines and wrinkles of the face, Botox or Xeomin may be used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe forehead lines, crow’s feet lines and frown lines between the eyebrows.
