Sara Wood - Naturopathic Doctor Portland

Naturopathic Doctor Portland

Dr. Sara Wood is a naturopathic physician with an extensive background in teaching both peers and patients alike on advancements in hormone therapies, natural aesthetics, and women’s health concerns. She brings this knowledge, coupled with her skills and caring demeanor to clinical practice, where she provides cutting-edge treatments for patients.  Whether addressing chronic health conditionsor aesthetic concerns, she empowers patients to feel, function and look their best!

Dr. Wood is originally from Colorado where she obtained her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Colorado College. Enthusiasm for science but a passion for people led her to medicine, and a desire to treat the cause of disease, not the symptoms led her to naturopathy. After completing her doctorate at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (now the National University of Natural Medicine), she focused her training on endocrine imbalances in both men and women.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Wood served as a staff physician at Labrix Clinical Services for many years. In this role, she educated doctors around the globe on bioidentical hormone replacement therapies through individual case consultation as well as on the podium at some medical conferences including the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the Integrative Healthcare Symposium. In 2009 Dr. Wood and a colleague published a book on declining testosterone levels in men, and she has contributed articles to numerous publications over the years including the Townsend Letter.

Dr. Wood’s primary focus is on endocrine imbalances including thyroid, adrenal and sex hormones and immune dysfunction. The therapies she uses vary from lifestyle modifications to herbal remedies to hormone replacement, which she believe to be safe and effective when prescribed responsibly. Recently, Dr. Wood has incorporated several new therapies into her practice, treating lichen sclerosis, female sexual dysfunction and hair loss using platelet-rich plasma injections.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Wood can be found exploring the joys and challenges of motherhood, cuddling with her dog and searching for a spot in the sun.
